The guitarist Marc Sinan, the son of a Turkish Armenian mother and a German father, born in 1976, has been performing on international concert stages for more than 15 years. He studied with Eliot Fisk and Joaquin Clerch at the Salzburg Mozarteum and the New England Conservatory in Boston. He was the assistant to Franz Halasz at the Augsburg School of Music, teaching one of Europe’s most successful guitar classes.

Alongside solo concerts and chamber music projects with renowned partners such as Eliot Fisk, Jörg Widmann, the Turkish percussionist Burhan Öcal and the Rodin Quartet, Marc Sinan has earned successes as a soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Georgian Chamber Orchestra and others. His European concert tours have taken him to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Turkey and Spain, followed by performances in North and South America. He has played in the Jordan Hall in Boston (for the world premiere of Daniel Pinkham’s Sagas), the Musikhalle in Hamburg (with the percussionist Burhan Öcal), the Teatro Nacional in Havana, the Philharmonie in Munich and the Mozartsaal in Salzburg, among many others on his tours around the world.

Marc Sinan has featured in numerous radio and television recordings, including for the Bavarian and Austrian public broadcasters and the Turkish TRT. He has recorded several CDs. The highly praised recording “A Royal Christmas - Marc Sinan and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra” was released in 1994.

In 1998 the composer Jörg Widmann dedicated the commissioned work Ent-Schwebung für Gitarre und Elektronik, which Sinan recorded along with works by Robert Beaser and Toru Takemitsu with support from Siemans.

Marc Sinan’s January 2000 benefit concert tour „Sounds are Friends”, which traveled to 15 German cities, funded music lessons through 2007 for over 70 orphans in Gölcük, Turkey near Istanbul, who lost their families in the 1999 earthquakes.

Since Sinan’s tour „From Istanbul to Buenos Aires“ (2002) with percussionist Burhan Öcal, Sinan has collaborated with musicians from various genres. Sinan was a soloist with big band back-up in his project Livin’ Swing, which came out of his work with pianist and arranger Marc Schmolling.

Marc Sinan’s collaboration with composer and pianist Julia Hülsmann and author Marc Schiffer recently resulted in his project „Fasil“ which has been produced in April 2008 by Manfred Eicher. The CD will be released on ECM Records in January 2009.
